The Avian Flu and now the recent outbreak of the H1N1
Influenza virus (referred to as swine flu) in the United States has again
raised the question of preparedness for situations that may impact the ability
of your employees to be at work and for your business to continue to
operate.
This workshop provides a basic understanding of the virus,
current information on the outbreak from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC)
and the strategies businesses should be taking to limit the virus’s potential
impact on their workforce and organization.
The Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) outlined an employer’s
legal obligation to provide a safe and healthful workplace. This overview will focus on how businesses
can protect their employees and provide for operational continuity. The information and tools necessary to begin
and complete a pandemic plan for your company will be provided. In addition, HR policies, employment laws, and
employee communications regarding this virus and your pandemic plan will be
discussed.
This workshop will also highlight what can be done in the
short term due to the rapidly changing status and spread of H1N1.
